HI! My name is Atlas Vernier. I’m a photographer based out of Blacksburg, Virginia specializing in candid portraiture. I love capturing genuine emotion, especially in the activities that we love. Through this passion, I find myself gravitating towards art- and performance-based spaces: from the marching band at Virginia Tech to Dungeons and Dragons livestreams to awe-inspiring firebreathers! I’ve been a photographer for almost a decade, and I’m continually seeking more opportunities to showcase others’ skill and passion.

By day, I’m a PhD student in systems engineering, meaning that I also excel at organization and infrastructure, adapting my own workflow and communication to reflect the needs of people around me.

I’m excited to bring my skills to the Georgia Renaissance Festival!

FANTASY EVENTS,
FIREBREATHERS, &
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

These pictures were taken at fantasy-themed events such as Persephone’s Grove (hosted by Booked & Bewitched) and DurinFest! The firebreathers in these pictures are Kehela Neo, Loki Omura, and Rachel Vangelist. (They’re all incredible people!)

I also work with Open the Gates Gaming, a research collective dedicated to making tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons more accessible for neurodivergent and disabled players. These pictures are from our film sessions!

MARCHING
VIRGINIANS

The Marching Virginians are the civilian marching band at Virginia Tech. At 330 strong, we bring the spirit to every game at our home field, Lane Stadium. I have been a photographer for the Marching Virginians since 2019—as an undergraduate student marching in the ensemble! (Fun fact: my primary instrument is bagpipes.)

VIRGINIA TECH
SPIRIT SQUADS

The Spirit Squads at Virginia Tech encompass the cheer squad and dance team. I currently work as a staff photographer for both teams, including football games, practice, and even line dancing at a local farm!

VT CAMPUS LIFE

The VTubathon, a fundraising livestream for new sousaphones (given that the band’s 50-year-old sousaphones are quite literally falling apart),
Tuba Christmas, an annual celebratory concert for low brass to play Christmas carols

The Industrial & Systems Engineering department’s end-of-year awards ceremony
